Carbon Canister Removal
The CBR600RR is a bit of a porker. It holds at least a 17-lb disadvantage compared to its rivals in the 600cc supersport class. While the heft might be part of the reason for its reknowned stability, I'm always open to ways of shedding a few pounds off the bike. (Maybe I should go on a diet instead!) If you have a California-spec RR, there's a carbon canister mounted underneath the swingarm. Get rid of the canister and the bracket that holds it in place, and your ride will be over 4 lbs. lighter in less than 1/2 hour. Let's see you do that on the Atkins diet! It helps to have a rearstand to slightly elevate the rear end and keep it level while you're trying to remove the canister and bracket. Remove the lower cowls, and get to work... |
